April 27th, 2011 the City of Ottawa announced an immediate outdoor watering ban in the following areas of Ottawa: Barrhaven, Riverside South and Manotick. This ban on any form of outdoor watering in these areas will be in effect until mid-August 2011 while the city replaces a water main on Woodroffe Avenue that broke for a second time in January 2011.
This outdoor Water Ban means that the 27,000 home in the affected areas are banned from watering grass or outdoor plants, washing cars, using an in-ground sprinkler system, filling or topping up a pond, water feature, pool or spa. To top it off, splash pads and wading pools in the area will not be in use during the ban this summer.
The Pond Clinic wishes to be part of the solution and is therefore offering a 10% discount on Decorative Rain Barrels this month to help citizens fight this drought. Combined with a 50$ rebate offered through the City of Ottawa, residents can afford an ecological and elegant rain water harvesting system.
